Beyond New York

International recommendations

Burgerverse ranks mainly New York City (for now). We haven't begun to score the international field officially, but will document our experiences here. More coming soon!

Worldwide: Burgerdudes

For burgers worldwide, Burgerdudes are our trusted experts. They have been reviewing burgers across dozens of countries since 2009, the Telegraph called them the Michelin Guide of burgers, and they publish The World's Best Burgers, the list we reach for before any trip. Where we have not eaten, they usually have.

We do not always agree with them, and we would not trust a ranking we always agreed with. Their list is the starting point; the rest is the trip.

Where we have been: Melbourne

Easey'sCollingwood, Melbourne, Australia

Jimmy Hurlston's burger bar in Collingwood, with retired train carriages on the roof. Hurlston is the same Jimmy behind The Down Under, the pop-up that guested at Hamburger America in NYC. If you are in Melbourne, this is the burger to seek out first.

Grill'dMelbourne, Australia

The Australian chain that started in Hawthorn, Melbourne, in 2004 and now covers the country. A chain burger done with real care, and the reliable answer when you are anywhere in Australia and want a burger you can count on.

Back home, the full NYC ranking and the guides are where the scores live.
