Sonnyboy

Sonnyboy is an all-day restaurant and bar on the Lower East Side, serving brunch, dinner, and a full bar program. The Beef Burger runs on both the sandwiches and larger plates sections of the menu, built with cheddar, shaved onion, iceberg lettuce, and special sauce on a sesame bun, with shoestring fries.

That build is the restaurant's, not our description of what we tasted. It is a conventional cheeseburger and there is nothing wrong with the idea of it.

Our judgment is that it was below average. We did not write down which part of it fell short, so we are not going to reverse-engineer a critique out of the ingredient list. A conventional build is not evidence of a conventional result in either direction, and telling you the sauce or the patty was the problem would be a guess dressed up as a review.

Below average, then, and that is as specific as our record allows.

The only judgment on record is that the burger was below average, with no component singled out for praise or blame.

There is nothing here to weigh against anything else, so the assessment rests on the overall impression and stops there.
